Jingwei's Attempt to Fill the Sea
Category: Mythology
Year: 2026
Dimensions: 50x100cm
Medium: Oil on cavans
In Chinese mythology, the youngest daughter of the Flame Emperor (Yandi) drowned while swimming in the East Sea.
Her soul transformed into the bird Jingwei. Driven by her pain, she tirelessly carries twigs and stones and drops them into the sea to fill it up. While this act may recall the Greek Sisyphus, Jingwei does not symbolize a senseless curse, but rather unwavering perseveranceand the heroic will to conquer even the impossible.
