"Kuafu Chasing the Sun" is one of the most renowned and deeply profound mythic epics of ancient China. In a bygone primordial era, a clan of giants dwelt in the northern wilderness, led by their chieftain, Kuafu. Possessing a towering stature, Kuafu was defined by his profound benevolence. One fateful year, a catastrophic drought plagued the realm—rivers ran bone-dry, crops withered to dust, and the people endured agonizing suffering amidst relentless searing heat and famine. Bearing witness to his people’s torment, Kuafu forged a monumental ambition: he resolved to run down the sun, seize it, and bring it under human command, thereby securing a gentle, nurturing balance of light and warmth for the mortal world.

Yet, as he drew closer to his celestial quarry, the titanic fireball unleashed an unyielding, merciless radiance. Exhausted by the immense cross-continental pursuit and plunged into extreme dehydration, Kuafu depleted his final ounce of strength en route to the Great Waters and collapsed, perishing tragically of thirst. In that ultimate moment as his life burned to ash, Kuafu gazed up at the sun, his heart still anchored to the well-being of future generations. Summoning the very last vestige of his might, he hurled his wooden staff fiercely ahead. Upon striking the earth, the staff was instantly transfigured into a lush, verdant peach forest spanning thousands of miles—an enduring sanctuary of shade and sustenance for all weary travelers to come.
