Nuwa Creates Human Beings
Kategorie: Mythologie

Nüwa is the creator goddess of Chinese mythology, a being with a human torso and a serpent's tail. In her solitude, she shaped the first humans in her own image from yellow clay and water on the banks of a river. She also established the laws of marriage to ensure the continued existence of humanity.
This artwork blends the representation of the Hongshan culture (ca. 4700–2900 BC) and its early settlement forms with the motif of the Peach Blossom Spring—the epitome of a utopian, poetic homeland in Chinese intellectual life.
